During the mid-nineties, a new wave of cameras entered onto the market with immediate interest from anyone and everyone with a love of photography. The digital camera has been booming since its arrival, forcing many of our old film cameras to spend the rest of their days lying in their cases and stored away for good. New advancements in their design are evident as the years or even weeks pass by. Not only for avid photographers, but with great ease of use for the more casual users amongst us - the digital camera has made its way into many hearts.
As opposed to more traditional methods, the digital camera takes photos and stores them digitally. This format makes it much easier for distribution such as uploading the images to your home or work computers. There are many reasons why digital photography has become the preferred method over more traditional ways, some of those we will look at now.

As soon as you have taken your snap - the image is displayed right there on the screen of your camera. If its not perfect - we can soon make amends. It also lowers the cost of having to pay for bodged up prints every time.

Sharing and Distribution. As mentioned before, the digital camera allows the photographer to share their photos easily, quickly and in a number of different ways. Uploading images to the computer to be stored or sent to friends and family via email is as easy as 1 2 3. We can even burn those images onto a disc for better storage or to handed out as a gift. Digital cameras have not entered the hearts of everyone though and many professional photographers or old-timers in the field stick to traditional cameras, with claims that they give a more 'life-like' result. This could be true, but it doesn't stop the rise of the digital camera. Improvements in every sense are being applied and new concepts are always in the making, to meet the demands of potential buyers.
